Job Summary
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm
This role offers weekday hours (Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm). You will be asked to confirm your preferred shift times during the interview process.
As a Ward Host/Hostess, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive meals and refreshments in a safe, efficient, and respectful manner. Your responsibilities will include food handling, delivery, and ensuring compliance with all relevant hygiene standards and procedures.
Main Duties of the Role
Collect, prepare, and deliver food, beverages, crockery, and cutlery to ward areas in accordance with food hygiene and hospital protocols.
Serve breakfast and beverages directly to patients.
Ensure that all patient meal trays and crockery are cleared promptly and hygienically after meals.
Liaise with ward staff, who will serve lunch and supper, to ensure a coordinated approach to mealtime service.
Follow strict due diligence practices in line with food safety and patient care requirements.
Maintain a clean and organised working area, reporting any issues or shortages to senior staff.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
Essential:
Basic English and Maths skills
Desirable:
Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene (or working towards)
Awareness of health and safety practices
Customer care training or experience
Knowledge & Skills
Essential:
Enthusiastic team member with a positive attitude
Ability to follow clear instructions and provide feedback to senior staff
Capable of working independently and following set procedures
Desirable:
Good time management and punctuality
