Job Summary

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm

This role offers weekday hours (Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm). You will be asked to confirm your preferred shift times during the interview process.

As a Ward Host/Hostess, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive meals and refreshments in a safe, efficient, and respectful manner. Your responsibilities will include food handling, delivery, and ensuring compliance with all relevant hygiene standards and procedures.

Main Duties of the Role

• Collect, prepare, and deliver food, beverages, crockery, and cutlery to ward areas in accordance with food hygiene and hospital protocols.

• Serve breakfast and beverages directly to patients.

• Ensure that all patient meal trays and crockery are cleared promptly and hygienically after meals.

• Liaise with ward staff, who will serve lunch and supper, to ensure a coordinated approach to mealtime service.

• Follow strict due diligence practices in line with food safety and patient care requirements.

• Maintain a clean and organised working area, reporting any issues or shortages to senior staff.

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential:

• Basic English and Maths skills

Desirable:

• Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene (or working towards)

• Awareness of health and safety practices

• Customer care training or experience

Knowledge & Skills

Essential:

• Enthusiastic team member with a positive attitude

• Ability to follow clear instructions and provide feedback to senior staff

• Capable of working independently and following set procedures

Desirable:

• Good time management and punctuality

Experience

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a hospital or care environment
