Job Summary

Hours: Full-Time, Part-Time, Flexible & Ad-Hoc Shifts Available

The Role

As a Post-Operative Recovery Companion, you will provide practical, non-medical support to clients during their recovery period. You will help create a safe and comfortable environment, assist with everyday tasks, and provide companionship and reassurance throughout the recovery process.

This is not a personal care or clinical role. You will not undertake nursing duties, wound care, medication administration, personal hygiene assistance, or any regulated healthcare activities.

Key Responsibilities

Mobility & Safety Support

  1. Assist clients with moving safely around their home.
  2. Provide support when getting in and out of bed or chairs.
  3. Help reduce the risk of slips, trips, and falls.
  4. Encourage safe use of walking aids and mobility equipment.
  5. Conduct basic home safety checks and report concerns.

Household Support

  1. Light housekeeping and domestic duties
  2. Laundry and ironing
  3. Changing bed linen
  4. Tidying living spaces
  5. Shopping and running errands
  6. Collecting prescriptions where authorised

Meal Preparation

  1. Prepare nutritious meals and refreshments
  2. Support dietary requirements and preferences
  3. Ensure clients remain hydrated throughout the day

Companionship & Emotional Support

  1. Provide friendly conversation and companionship
  2. Offer reassurance during recovery
  3. Encourage social interaction and wellbeing
  4. Help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation

Medication Support

  1. Provide medication reminders in accordance with care plans
  2. Record reminders provided where required
  3. Report concerns if medication appears to be missed

Appointment Assistance

  1. Arrange and coordinate transport where required
  2. Accompany clients to follow-up appointments
  3. Provide support before and after medical visits

Requirements

  1. Caring, patient, and compassionate nature
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  3. Reliable and professional approach
  4. Ability to work independently and use initiative
  5. Experience working with elderly, vulnerable adults, or individuals recovering from illness is desirable
  6. Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle is desirable
  7. Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one)
  8. Right to work in the UK

Services are delivered throughout London and Essex. Applicants should be willing to travel within their local area.
